Can I use markers on this fabric?
My friend is in the hospital, and a bunch of us want to decorate a blanket to give to her. Our problem is, the only blanket we can buy right now (we're away in college) is something called a "Microfiber Down Throw." It's not a fleece- it looks like a cheap duvet. It is 100% Polyester, and it says "Do not iron" on it.
Here's the thing- I have a few fabric markers, and a huge pack of colored sharpies that I want to use on the blanket. But I feel like I would need to iron it a little to set the colors into the fabric. Will markers even work on such a crummy polyester thing? And will I burn down my dorm if I try to iron it?

No, you won't burn down the dorm if you iron it. You may melt the fabric, but the ignition temp for polyester is 560 degrees C, while cotton ignites at 250 degrees C.
For polyester, the best is probably Crayola Fabric Transfer Crayons... draw your designs on paper (in reverse), color them with the crayons, then iron the paper onto the fabric. It may melt the filling inside the comforter.
Polyester requires what is called a "disperse dye", different from most of the common dyestuffs found in markers.
Or you could use fabric paints.
what is a "fleece throw"?
i looked it up on google & that was not much help just a lot of links on where to buy one. i want a twilight one (yes i'm one of those twilight fans) any way i know i can get it at hot topic. but they have a"fleece throw" and a "duvet cover" whats the difference? (oh & for those of you looking for one they are at hot topic for like 13 bucks) & is a fleece throw the same as a fleece blanket (or whatever)? i just ant to know before i by one thanx in advance! *twilight rocks*
