Those talented superstars from the 1920's and 30's who wowed audiences because of their abilities to make music by means of the rapid rhythmic tapping of their feet upon the floor.

It is believed that tap dancing originated in America as African American slaves who due to the lack of any other forms of musical instruments used their own hands and feet in order to replicate the atmosphere and dancing routines of their native homelands.
